Support Teacher Job description

The Worcester JCC Early Childhood Center seeks a dedicated, patient, reliable assistant teacher/support staff to join our team. You will support all the classrooms and assist teachers with daily and weekly tasks. You will play a vital role in the early childhood center's success by having the opportunity to work with and learn from a professional and passionate team. As an assistant teacher/support staff, you are not required to be certified through the Department of Early Education and Care; we are happy to train and assist you with becoming certified.

Responsibilities:

- Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow.

- Foster social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through engaging activities.

- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and creativity.

- Supervise children in play and structured activities.

- Collaborate with classroom teachers and assist in preparing activities as requested.

- Attend scheduled monthly staff meetings, maintain CPR/First Aid Certification, complete all required trainings by DEEC.

-Develop and follow the Annual Individual Professional Plan

-Cover planning and breaks for staff.

-Support all staff and classrooms as needed. (infant, toddler, and preschool)

-Ability to multitask, and be flexible as each day may be different.

-Provide light housekeeping duties as needed, and lifting up to 50lbs.

Qualifications:

- Previous experience working with children, preferably in a preschool setting.

- Knowledge of childhood development principles and best practices.

- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with children, parents, and staff.

- Ability to effectively assist in managing a classroom and maintaining a positive learning environment.

- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

-Willingness to enroll in Early Childhood classes to become EEC certified or continue education.

- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in early childhood education preferred.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
