Prince George\'s County Police Department is seeking qualified applicants to fill a current Supply Property Clerk 3P, grade P12 vacancy within the Evidence and Property Division.

About this Position:

This is a full-performance administrative support position with various duties and responsibilities. Work requires knowledge of Personnel Law, general orders, and departmental policies and regulations. This position requires the ability to communicate well with others.

Accountability Statement:

The incumbent must meet and maintain the training standards set forth by the Prince George\'s County Police Department. The incumbent shall not disseminate information, administrative or operational unless expressly authorized. Information may not be discussed with other County employees (including individuals in the Police Department), except for work-related reasons, under terms and conditions of the Maryland Public Information Act. The incumbent in this position will be required to sign a confidentiality and/or non-disclosure agreement. The incumbent in this position is deemed \xe2\x80\x9cessential personnel\xe2\x80\x9d and is subject to report during standard or non-standard hours as operations necessitate.

Examples of Work

What You\'ll Do:

  • Administers the daily activities related to the collection, storage retrieval, release, and purging of property collected by the Prince Georges County Police Department.
  • Secures and maintains records of all confiscated and recovered property.
  • Prepares all paperwork for property being sent to auctions and destroyed.
  • Assists with purges, transportation, and destruction of stored material.
  • Process gun hearing applications, ensuring that all gun hearing applications are properly handled, and background checks are completed for the OIC to review. When necessary, will conduct gun hearings.
  • Maintain an orderly method for the storage of firearms in accordance with established departmental guidelines.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed logs of all property purged from the facility.
  • Demonstrates a good knowledge of firearm handling and chain of custody procedures.
  • Prepares written reports.
  • Safely handles and clears firearms.
  • Safely handles confiscated money, jewelry, and bio-contaminated items.
  • Work in partnership with internal and external customers to assist in finding a resolution to immediate problems.
Qualifications

What You\'ll Need:

Must have experience at the Supply/Property Clerk 2 level equal to the probationary period; or

Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate with at least two (2) years of experience in varied inventory control work including purchasing, distribution, invoicing, and/or procurement and stocking

A broad variety of equipment, materials, or supplies. Any equivalent combination of relevant training, education, and experience will also be accepted.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of the Records Management Systems (RMS.
  • Working knowledge of the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database system.
  • Working knowledge of firearm handling.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Upon selection, the candidate:

1. Must successfully pass a background investigation.
2. Must pass a drug screening.
3. Must possess and maintain a valid driver\'s license.
4. Must be willing to adjust work schedule to include working Saturdays and Sundays
when required. Some position assignments will require shift work.
5. This is an essential position. Essential employees are expected to report during standard or non-standard hours as operations necessitate. Essential employees are expected to report or remain at work when other County employees are granted Administrative Leave.

DURATION OF ELIGIBILITY: Candidates will be selected from a temporary register of eligible candidates, which will become effective approximately four (4) weeks after the closing date. Once a selection has been made, the register will expire.
