UConn Health is looking for a Supply Coordinator with experience in the operating room/surgical field to assist with purchasing, receiving, and maintaining equipment and supplies for the operating room unit.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Works under the general supervision of an employee of higher rank.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
May lead lower-level employees as assigned
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Accountable for independently performing a full range of tasks in ordering equipment and supplies.
Coordinates the requisitioning and receiving of supplies including special orders for a department or unit; may assist in the development/implementation of supply/equipment standards; may evaluate new supplies/equipment; may participate in the development and implementation of systems designed to study placement of supplies and equipment; prepares purchase requisitions for procurement of all supplies and materials; acts as liaison between department and; follows up and places orders with vendors/sales consultants; processes incoming orders and assures proper charges; resolves vendor discrepancies; may process invoices and statements for payment; researches manufacturers prices and catalog numbers; ensures sufficient stock levels of supplies/instruments; may monitor the need for and schedule preventative maintenance of equipment; serves as resource person to others on supplies/equipment; prepares reports on usage and materials; assists in the preparation of supplies for special clinical programs (i.e., NRBDE); may serve on committees; performs related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY:
Knowledge of purchasing procedures and related materials/supplies; knowledge of sterilization procedures; knowledge of infection control and safety; oral and written communication skills; interpersonal skills; record keeping skills; ability to work under pressure deadlines.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
General Experience:
Four (4) years of experience working in the operating room/surgical field including the ordering of appropriate supplies/equipment.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
College training may substitute for General Experience based on fifteen (15) semester hours equaling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of two (2) years.
SCHEDULE
: Full time, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 9:30 am to 6:00 pm, schedule includes holidays as assigned, 30-minute unpaid meal break.
