Impact in this Role

Your role as a Supplier Quality Engineer will be to support and drive improvements with our growing US network of manufacturing partners. You will provide \xe2\x80\x9cboots on the ground\xe2\x80\x9d support to our manufacturing partners while representing the voice of the customer. In this role, you\'ll be using your supplier quality engineering background in mechanical hardware production, leveraging your manufacturing process knowledge and structured problem-solving skills, to resolve issues and to continually drive improvements.

The role is very hands-on, with regular travel to our US manufacturing partners expected. Additionally, you will maintain contact between visits using remote working practices such as virtual audits. At Fictiv, we believe a robust network of manufacturing partners is essential for creating and maintaining the world\'s premier platform for hardware manufacturing, and you\'ll be playing a critical role in making that happen.

You will be instrumental in giving customers the confidence that Fictiv manages the manufacturing of parts, at least as well as, but preferably better than they would.

You will report to the Quality Manager.

What You\'ll Be Doing

  • Onboarding new manufacturing partners - in collaboration with Fictiv\'s Strategic Sourcing Team you will ensure that prospective manufacturing partners are effectively assessed for their ability to dependably deliver quality parts, on time to the customer\'s needs
  • Development of existing manufacturing partners - responsible for the following areas of development:
  • Establishing processes to meet customer-specific requirements
  • Establishing control plans to build quality in, rather than rely on final inspection
  • Using Fictiv\'s supplier maturity model and manufacturing partner scorecards to plan improvement activities
  • Nonconformance resolution with manufacturing partners - coach manufacturing partners in effective root cause analysis, and the execution of robust corrective and preventive actions
  • Continuous improvement - in addition to the activities with individual manufacturing partners above, you will:
  • Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing to strengthen the network of manufacturing partners, including disseminating best practices
  • Improve Fictiv\'s quality management system to give customers confidence that we have robust processes for the management of manufacturing partners
  • Work with your counterparts in China to standardize on best practices and leverage lessons learned
  • Customer advocacy - representing the voice of the customer at manufacturing partners
Desired traits
  • 5 years of experience working with suppliers preferably in mechanical parts
  • You are a results-oriented, self-directed SQE who uses a process approach when collaborating with manufacturing partners for win-win solutions to issues
  • Although developing good relationships with manufacturing partners is essential, you will be very comfortable holding them accountable whenever necessary
  • You have a record of data-based decision-making, demonstrating the ability to make timely decisions with limited data that is available
  • Your excellent verbal and written communication skills allow you to collaborate successfully with manufacturing partners at all levels in their organization as well as working with customers remotely and face-to-face
  • Since you will be working remotely, often at manufacturing partners\' sites, your time management and organizational skills drive efficient and effective work behaviors
  • You will have a good knowledge of quality management system requirements such as ISO 9001 and AS9100
  • Ability to travel 51 percent of the time
Perks and Benefits
  • Competitive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401K plan
  • Monthly Virtual Work stipend for things like food, internet, travel, pet care, health and wellness
  • Annual Education stipend
  • Parental leave programs
  • Paid volunteer days
  • Onboarding setup, including: standing desk, laptop, monitor, and chair, and a stipend for additional items such as headphones, blue light glasses, or any other ergonomic supplies you may want or need
  • And much, much more!
Salary Range: $95,000 to $120,000 per year, depending upon experience.
