Supervises and develops ARUP Information Technology software testing personnel and provides team leadership on IT projects through coordination of appropriate resources. Delivers timely validation and support of ARUP developed and purchased software applications. Participates on IT department projects, works closely with programmers and other IT support areas. Monitors the competency and performance of all employees. Ensures that procedures and regulatory requirements are followed. Meets the objectives of ARUP Laboratories by maintaining high standards of quality, efficiency and economy.

Essential Functions
:
Manage staff by prioritizing tasks, projects and troubleshooting related to validation and support of ARUP developed or purchased software used throughout ARUP.
Perform department supervisory functions, including establishing and meeting an annual budget.
Direct validation efforts for all software used at ARUP to include testing of new or modified software, maintenance and storage of testing worksheets, testing documentation files, release notes and sign off. Validate using manual and automated testing tools. Ensure timely and thorough validation of software applications.
Develop and maintain validation department policies, procedures, automated and manual test scripts, and documentation. Coordinate detailed information for "library" of testing scripts and scenarios.
Attend appropriate staff meetings, serving as a liaison for IT related issues. Provide meeting minutes for staff meetings as it relates to IT issues.
Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, counseling, and termination of individuals within the section, following all guidelines and policies of ARUP. Approves timesheets and on-call time. Develop and administer competency testing.
Appraise and evaluate employees per company policy.
Communicate clearly. Provide presentations, in-services and training. Conducts self in a professional manner at all times.

Mobility: The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.

Experience
RequiredBachelor's degree in Computer Science with emphasis on programming and validation and six (6) years of experience creating test plans, test scripts, and test cases for application and validation OR Associates Degree and eight (8) years of experience creating test plans, test scripts and test cases for application validation OR High School diploma and ten (10) years of experience creating test plans, test scripts and test cases for application validation
Three years of experience developing manual and automated software testing techniques
Demonstrated work experience exhibiting a high skill level in troubleshooting and understanding code
PreferredOne year of supervisory or lead experience
Eight years specific work experience creating test plans, test scripts and test cases for application validation
Database, laboratory, training, support, and software testing experience
Three years medical laboratory work experience
One year of Cerner Millennium work experience
