Job Summary:
The Base Area Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Rental, Retail, Uniform, Building Maintenance, and Tubing departments, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, strong team performance, and effective budget management. This role includes managing daily operations, staffing, inventory ordering, and resolving operational challenges.
As a key member of the resort's leadership team, the Supervisor contributes to strategic growth initiatives, fosters a positive workplace culture, and provides mentorship to staff, helping to drive the resort's success.

Job Responsibilities:
Lead daily operations across Rental, Retail, Uniform, Building Maintenance, and Tubing departments.
Foster a productive, safe, and inclusive work environment by implementing and maintaining all company-mandated safety training and assessments.
Collaborate with senior leadership and partner with Human Resources to recruit, hire, and onboard seasonal team members effectively.
Train, mentor, and support supervisory and frontline team members to ensure high performance and growth.
Communicate professionally with guests and staff; address feedback, concerns, and recognition with empathy and efficiency.
Forecast business volumes and trends to proactively manage staffing levels and inventory needs.
Support group programming and Epic for Everyone initiatives to enhance guest engagement.
Maintain accurate and timely electronic filing systems with strong attention to detail.
Ensure all operational areas are clean, well-stocked, and visually aligned with brand standards.
Design and manage uniform distribution and collection processes.
Create and adjust weekly staff schedules to meet operational needs.
Partner with senior resort leadership to elevate guest satisfaction, employee experience, and financial performance.
Execute daily opening and closing procedures for retail and rental outlets; fill frontline roles as needed during off-peak periods.
Uphold all Vail Resorts and local resort policies, procedures, and regulations.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support resort operations.
Job Requirements:
Minimum 3 years of retail sales and customer service
+ Outdoor sporting goods experience - Preferred
+ Previous snow sports rental experience - Preferred Minimum 3 years management experience
High school degree or equivalent- Required
College degree - Preferred
Must be at least 18 years old - Required
Professionalism and strong guest service skills, attention to detail and timeliness
Flexible schedule required including evenings, holidays and weekends
Team-building skills
Communication skills, both written and verbal
Knowledge of products and trends within the outdoor sporting goods industry
Proficient in MS Office Products; Excel, Work, Outlook and Power Point.
The expected pay range is $25.00/hr- $34.62/hr. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
