The Superintendent/Principal reports directly to the Board of Directors and assumes all executive and administrative responsibility for the effective operation of Index School, and promotes learning of all students.
Salary Information
$72,208.64 or 896 contract hours at 80.59 /hr. Position includes 40 hours of sick leave, retirement benefits and SEBB insurance benefits.
I. Vision and Leadership
: Develops strategies to implement the district's vision; aligns district procedures and practices with the vision; holds board and staff mutually accountable for striving toward the mission.
II. Instructional Leadership
: Advocates for student learning as the district's highest priority; sees to the development of educational curricula that aligns with legal requirements and best practices for student learning; implements effective procedures for staff evaluation.
III. Effective Management
: Manages fiscal and human resources to support instructional improvement; responsible for recruitment, development, evaluation of all staff; provides staff with support necessary for autonomy; ensures long-range facilities planning and maintenance; assures that district policies and practices result in a climate that is positive, friendly, and responsive to the needs of students and employees; coordinates maintenance of school building and property, equipment, technology, grounds, bus fleet and nutritional program; executes decisions made by the board; actively seeks and writes grant proposals; maintains required records.
IV. Inclusive Practice
: Develops two-way communication strategies to involve families, community members, agencies, board of directors; attends monthly board meetings and presents options and recommendations to the board for decisions; assists board in planning and conducting levy campaigns; recognizes and responds to diversity within the district; capitalizes on the diversity of students and the community to improve learning; works to reduce achievement gaps; identifies and eliminates policies and practices that have discriminatory effects.
V. Ethical Leadership
: Models high standards of professional and ethical behavior; interacts respectfully with others; holds staff and students to respectful and ethical standards; maintains confidentiality as appropriate.
VI. Socio-Political Contex
t: Gains understanding of the community by interacting with community members and activities; engages with local, state and federal officials in order to protect and promote the interests of children in the district; provides the board with timely information and builds strong relationship with the board.
Requirements
Position requires knowledge and experience in management of district finances including levies; knowledge of laws governing the operation of school districts; knowledge of and experience with leadership and instructional frameworks, Common Core curriculum development, assessment and instructional strategies; knowledge of safety and response protocols; skill in data analysis; organization and record-keeping ability; oral and written communication proficiency; ability to solve problems diplomatically; creativity in planning and problem-solving.
Prefer minimum three years successful supervisory experience, preferably as a building administrator. Must possess Washington State Patrol check and FBI Fingerprint Clearance Report and Disclosure Statement in accordance with state law.
