The Family Camp Middle School Lead develops, leads, and oversees the programming for the Family Camp Middle School program and provides Family Camp Middle School staff with the support and tools to implement holistic, excellent, and developmentally appropriate programs that lead students one step closer to Jesus, in a manner consistent with Mount Hermon's mission, vision, and values.
General Qualifications:
The Family Camp Middle School Lead is a Ministerial position. Ministerial staff render their work, stewardship, relationships, and behavior as evidence of being followers of Jesus Christ while embracing and affirming Mount Hermon's mission, vision, and beliefs. They are responsible for defining, cultivating and leading Mount Hermon's Christian community, conference programs, and retreats.
Key Job Accountabilities
Disciple, train, and supervise Family Camp Middle School Staff, empowering them to disciple students; helping them encounter God and connect to others.
Develop a warm and welcoming atmosphere for students and staff
Ensure campers' emotional and physical safety/well-being.
Work as a team with the Family Camp High School Assistant Lead to explore, create, and coordinate program development and implementation for junior high and high school campers in attendance at Family Camp.
Organize and coordinate with necessary departments; set and distribute schedules to the necessary parties.
Provide financial oversight including budgeting and purchasing.
Provide clear and open communication with parents.
Implement and document program inventory and evaluation.
Attend a weekly meeting with the Family Ministries Youth Intern and the Leadership Team.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Family Ministries Youth Intern and/or Family Ministry Staff

Education/Certifications/Licenses
High school graduate.
College experience.
Must be CPR/First Aid certified (before arriving at camp).
Work Experience
Prior or current experience working with junior high students in ministry settings.
Must have experience in leadership roles (while working with college age students and young adults).
Prior camp counseling experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must possess leadership skills and emotional and spiritual maturity.
Must have strong relational skills and high energy to engage with youth.
Ability to articulate the Gospel of Jesus Christ as communicated in Scripture.
Mature understanding and respect for authority and peers, as well as camp guidelines and principles.
Must be creative and detail oriented, with the ability to follow through with projects.
Must be flexible with an ability to adjust and problem solve in challenging situations.
Ability to engage in a variety of outdoor activities.
Physical Demands
The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Requires seeing, hearing, talking, sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, and hiking.
Additional Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age due to the requirement for onsite community living.
Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in Mount Hermon's mission, vision, values, and commitment statements.
Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
Possible opportunities to work with campers with special needs through our One on One program in assisting them physically, cognitively, and emotionally as they engage the camp experience in a way best suited to their individual needs.
