Summary
JAMES ISLAND RECREATION CENTER LOCATION
The City of Charleston is looking for a Day Camp Director for our JAMES ISLAND RECREATION CENTER LOCATION for the summer season! In this role, you will oversee daily operations of a youth camp program at a City recreation facility.
Examples of Duties
- Work under the direction of a Recreation Department Facility Manager.
- Oversee a camp program serving 60-75 elementary and middle-school age children.
- Camp programing includes: swimming, arts and crafts, games, sports, and educational enrichment.
- Manage eight camp employees and counselors in training.
- Create schedules for staff and camp groups.
- Oversee sign-in and sign-out procedures for campers.
- Manage communications with parents and guardians.
- Handle disciplinary measures for campers and staff in an appropriate manner.
- Create daily and weekly camp lesson plans.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Available to work Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm for the summer camp season.
- Able to stand and walk outdoors in a variety of weather conditions for prolonged periods of time.
- Valid state-issued driver\'s license.
- Supervisory experience.
- Experience working with children.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
