Job Summary
Summer 2026 program will run from May 18th - August 7, 2026.
The Engineering Summer Internship position will be involved-in and exposed to complex engineering construction aspects of the Hudson Tunnel Project. Individuals in this role will provide engineering support and have an opportunity to apply technical knowledge to support project objectives by supporting the execution of project activities with oversite from a senior-level Program Manager. Services include transit and rail, civil engineering design and permitting, land planning and construction phase services.
Essential Functions

• Excellent verbal and written communication, collaborative and relationship building skills
• Must be self-motivated and able to work autonomously
• Proof-read documents for grammatical errors, flow, and formatting
• Organize and use design information
• Exposure to building codes, design specifications, and recommended practices
• Familiarity with large scale transit, tunneling or civil projects.
• Understanding of passenger railroad operating environment

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution.
• Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in civil engineering.
• Must have at least 2 years of academic undergraduate studies completed or a junior status at minimum.
• Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.

Preferred Qualifications

• Actively pursuing a degree in Transportation or Rail engineering.
• Experience working in an engineering design or construction support services position.

Communications and Interpersonal Skills

• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

PAY TRANSPARENCY:
The hourly range is $17.50 per hour - $35.00 per hour. Pay is based on factors including school year, program of study, etc. In addition paid internships include Amtrak rail pass privileges as a part of the experience along with one (1) PTO day per academic year.
