This full-time position is in compensation Pay Range C that pays from $41,198 to $57,707 annually, plus fringe benefits. Starting salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position will be located in Grand Rapids with travel to Muskegon as needed. This position will involve travel to various employers in those locations and would have the option to work remotely approximately 20% of the time.

ACSET OVERVIEW: ACSET is the administrative and fiscal agent for the Michigan Works! Agency of Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Kent, Montcalm, Muskegon and Ottawa Counties. West Michigan Works! mission is to lead workforce development strategy and resource alignment in West Michigan by understanding the talent needs of employers and employment needs of job seekers and connecting them to solutions.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Success Coach assists employers\xe2\x80\x99 Human Resource departments with employee retention and provides customized resources to employees to ensure long term workplace success. The Success Coach works within the Retention Solutions Department and serves as an expert in community and state resources, assists employees in navigating systems to resolve employment barriers and advance in their career. This creates and fosters partnerships with community-based organizations to assist employees. Responsibilities are carried out according to established procedures with latitude for initiative and independent judgment.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Confidential and timely employee intake to ensure a positive employee experience. Provide initial and extended interviews and assessments with employees to identify needs.

  • Listen to and problem solve barriers for employees by identifying available benefits, programs and resources to ensure economic security and employment retention. Assist employees in developing Individual Services Strategies and employment plans to reach professional and personal goals.

  • Work with employers onsite/offsite to encourage and promote the use of RSN services.

  • Gather and prepare data in regards to quality and utilization of services to ensure a return on investment for RSN companies.

  • Research barriers to employment to develop an understanding of the complex issues facing employees and potential solutions to barriers.

  • Identify community resources available to address barriers and develop relationships with other community organizations to assist individuals with navigating resources.

  • Communicate the benefits of the RSN to employers, employees and community stakeholders to promote the growth of the organization.

  • Coordinate the scheduling and provision of supportive services.

  • Participate in community engagement meetings as assigned. Maintain relationships with existing community partners and develop new partnerships to provide support for employees.

  • Provide information to employees about the types of Michigan Works programs and services for which he or she may be eligible and assist with selection of programs based on individual interest, aptitude and eligibility.

  • Assess and refer employees to appropriate workshops or trainings to upgrade existing skills or assist with barrier removal.

  • Provide crisis intervention counseling and referrals addressing barriers to job search and employment such as childcare, transportation, housing, clothing, medical care, substance abuse counseling, and domestic violence.

  • Prepare and present updates/resources to be shared with employers in network newsletters and member meetings.

  • Monitor and record employees\xe2\x80\x99 progress to ensure that training, employment and retention goals and objectives are met.

  • Attend success coach meetings, review new policies and procedures, and brainstorm with peers to help employees retain employment, remove barriers and advance within their employer.

  • Prepare and maintain records and case files, including documentation such as employees\xe2\x80\x99 personal and eligibility information, services provided, narratives of employee contacts, and relevant correspondence.

  • Attend professional development activities, trainings and seminars.

  • Actively participate in continuous quality improvement processes.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • The job requires knowledge normally acquired through a Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree.

  • Two to four years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in workforce development, or an equivalent combination of training and experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of information technology, Microsoft Office Suite, and telecommunication hardware.

  • Proficient in typing, word processing, and use of the internet.

  • Ability to effectively interact, advise and motivate employees at various educational and job levels.

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate in both oral and written form with prior experience in public speaking

  • Communication and organizational skills that contribute to a quality work environment and the ability to work as a team.

  • Planning and time management skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.

  • Considerable ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, state and local agencies, and the general public.

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and maintain confidentiality while providing patient, friendly, and participant centered services.

  • Knowledge of proper phone etiquette.

  • Physical ability to sit in one position for extended periods of time.

  • Experience and knowledge of DHHS or other relevant human service programs and policies, resources and procedures preferred.

  • Ability to speak a language other than English is desirable.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Normal office environment with little discomfort due to noise, dirt, dust and the like.

  • Regional travel required for onsite employer visits.

  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet employer need for onsite visits.
