Imua Inclusion Preschool will further Imua Family Services' involvement in providing services to young children ages 2 years 8 months through to kindergarten-eligible age. The Imua Inclusion Preschool Teacher is responsible for the implementation of activities that promote social, physical, and intellectual growth needed for early childhood development and ensuring the highest standards of care are met for children in line with agency, local, state, and national standards. The teacher collaborates with a team consisting of direct service and administrative staff and is responsible for instruction, management, oversight, and on-going development of preschool programs operated by Imua Family Services. This person reports to, and meets with, the Preschool Director and other staff. Job responsibilities will be reviewed in accordance with the Policies and Procedures of Imua Family Services.
The position is a substitute, on-call position, and Part-Time position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaching
:
Use demonstrable familiarity with relevant client information and supervise staff on ECE recommended practices.
Foster an open and inclusive style of management to constantly review performance and redesign services as necessary
Monitor and assess performance of self and individuals within areas of responsibility to make improvements or take corrective action
Independently manage work, caseload, and related responsibilities
Oversee the creation and implementation of the curriculum for all preschool children
Meets all programmatic requirements including to adherence to timelines, deadlines, and necessary reporting for all preschool children
Ensure developmental appropriateness of activities, equipment, and supplies within the program
Plans individual and group activities to stimulate growth in language, social, and motor skills such as learning to listen to instructions, playing with others, and using play equipment
Provides specially designed instruction as necessary for individual children based on their needs
Provides direction in special education procedures and assumes supervision responsibilities of any staff performing special education services
Use best practices in early childhood education to meet the care and learning needs of children
Maintain an active, functional, appropriate, inclusive environment
Develop and deliver programming including well-prepared daily activities
Coordinate and lead community field trips
Adhere to the Code of Ethical Conduct of the National Association for the Education of Young Children
Maintain current health and safety practices, including safe diapering and toileting
Applies positive methods of guidance and problem solving
Communicates effectively with children, families, colleagues, and community
Duties involve lifting preschool age children

Evaluation and implementation of assessments and evaluations as determined by program procedures and policies
Works with and performs other duties as assigned by the director and supervisor

Family
:
Establishes a trusting relationship with families by initiating and maintaining regular participant contact
Maintain positive ongoing relationships with families
Coordinate and attend parent-teacher conferences with families
Assist with transition across educational environments
Organization
:
Schedule and lead regularly occurring staff meetings with program staff
Prepare and deliver staff development comprised of high quality orientations and workshops
Responsible for complying with licensing requirements and maintaining electronic and physical files of children in the program (including consents for service and documentation)
Maintains confidentiality of family records and all related information
Report on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis to supervisor regarding program activities, program services, program needs/changes, and service provision data as required
Attends regular staff meetings, case conferences, in-service trainings, and other meetings as required
Facilitates and participates in the registration, enrollment, and eligibility processes of the program
Participate in various fundraisers and other agency activities that serve to increase the credibility and visibility of Imua Family Services in the community
Assist Parents by suggested activities, educational material and by modeling appropriate interactions with children
Counsels family members with respect to the results of the evaluation and makes appropriate recommendations and referrals. Assists the family in accessing community resources
Conducts in-service presentations at staff meetings on pertinent special education and early intervention topics at the request of the Program Director.; participates in staff meetings, in-services and professional development as requested by the Program Director
Supervise teaching assistants, parent volunteers, and volunteer college students
Community
:
Represent the organization by communicating positively with people outside the organization and addresses community groups and employees to promote child development services
Arrange for and/or provide agency representation at community outreach activities
Works effectively with employees from other agencies and members of community groups
Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively with other personnel and/or service providers as part of a team, and maturity in interpersonal staff relationships
Acts as a consultant to educational, medical, and other professional groups
Requirements:
Education and/or Experience
Must be at least 18 years old and meet the following:
A. Associate's in ECE, Child Development, or related field from an accredited college/university required.
B. Bachelor's or Master's Degree in ECE, Child Development, or related field from an accredited college/university preferred.
C. Early Childhood Credential or documentation of classes or credits is preferred.
D. Early Childhood experience with the birth to age six population is preferred.
