Duties



Conduct thorough intake assessments to evaluate clients' substance use history, mental health status, and overall needs using standardized diagnostic tools aligned with ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems. Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating behavioral health strategies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and behavioral therapy techniques. Provide individual and group counseling sessions focused on addiction medicine, mental health counseling, and trauma-informed care including PTSD management. Facilitate family and child counseling sessions to support holistic recovery and strengthen support systems. Implement crisis intervention protocols to manage acute behavioral health emergencies with professionalism and sensitivity. Maintain accurate medical documentation, patient records, and case management notes in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical terminology standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, healthcare providers, and community agencies to coordinate patient care and ensure seamless service delivery. Conduct diagnostic evaluations and behavioral assessments to monitor progress and adjust treatment strategies accordingly. Engage in data collection efforts for research purposes or quality improvement initiatives related to addiction counseling and behavioral health outcomes. Educate clients about addiction recovery processes, relapse prevention techniques, and available community resources for ongoing support.

Skills



Proven expertise in psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), applied behavior analysis (ABA), and behavior management strategies. Strong proficiency in motivational interviewing techniques to foster client engagement and motivation for change. Experience in child & family counseling, home & community care settings, hospital environments, or crisis management scenarios. Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding systems (ICD-9/10), HIPAA compliance standards, and medical records documentation. Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and case management with attention to detail. Skilled in crisis intervention tactics for managing acute mental health or substance use crises effectively. Familiarity with research methodologies related to behavioral health outcomes and data collection processes. Excellent communication skills for conducting individual/group therapy sessions while maintaining a compassionate approach. Adept at utilizing CPT coding for billing purposes within clinical settings related to addiction medicine or mental health services. Experience working with diverse populations in behavioral health or substance abuse treatment programs is highly desirable.
