At Better Than Average Tutoring (BTA), we're on a mission to raise the bar for education in Montgomery. We don't just tutor -- we transform outcomes, build confidence, and create opportunities for students who deserve more than average.
That takes more than tutors. It takes leaders who can organize, coordinate, and execute programs that serve hundreds of families across the River Region. That's where you come in.
As Student Success & Academic Program Coordinator, you'll play a hands-on role in shaping programs that make a difference -- from state testing workshops (ACAP) and ACT prep, to homeschool offerings, our annual summer camp, and weekly support for 200+ students. You'll collaborate with academic teams to keep curriculum, systems, and services running at a Better Than Average standard.
This role isn't just about logistics -- it's also about learning. You'll review and interpret student data (iReady, ACAP, IEPs/504s), communicate insights to stakeholders, and help align tutoring with evidence-based instructional practices. Familiarity with frameworks like the
Science of Reading, Orton-Gillingham, and Common Core
is a strong plus in supporting literacy and academic outcomes.
Who This Role Is For
This role is for you if:
You thrive in fast-paced, mission-driven environments.
You can juggle multiple projects without dropping the ball.
You're organized, detail-oriented, and think in terms of systems.

You enjoy working with families, tutors, and community partners.
This role is
not
for you if:
You need constant supervision or struggle to follow through.
You're uncomfortable meeting deadlines or balancing competing priorities.
You see this as "just a job" rather than a growth opportunity.
The Growth Path
This is a growth-track role. Where you start is not where we expect you to stay.
Start:
Coordinator ($38K-$39K).
90-Day Review:
Show consistency, reliability, and attention to detail.
6-Month Review:
Eligible for adjustment up to $42K based on performance.
1-Year:
Opportunity to transition into a permanent role with benefits and long-term potential to step into management ($45K-$50K+).
