Job Summary

Under direct supervision of a pharmacist or certified pharmacy technician, performs pharmacy-related functions to provide optimal pharmaceutical care. Prepares medications, maintains pharmacy inventory, and restocks as necessary.

Essential Functions:

  • Medication Preparation \xe2\x80\xa2 Prepares medications appropriately. \xe2\x80\xa2 Pre-packs bulk medications and completes appropriate documentation. \xe2\x80\xa2 Fills patient specific medications. \xe2\x80\xa2 Interacts with appropriate healthcare staff and patients to identify, clarify and fill orders for pharmaceutical needs, under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist. (40%)

  • Inventory Management \xe2\x80\xa2 Maintains stock in accordance with manufacturers\xe2\x80\x99 requirements. \xe2\x80\xa2 Completes paperwork needed to track usage, outdated goods, billing, and shortages. \xe2\x80\xa2 Assists with charging and crediting medication returns. \xe2\x80\xa2 Restocks and delivers drugs and related supplies to patient care areas or clinics, as assigned, including automated dispensing machines. \xe2\x80\xa2 Restocks medications in automated dispensing cabinets or other secure locations as applicable, excluding controlled substances. \xe2\x80\xa2 Prepares inventories, receives drugs and stocks shelves in various pharmacy locations. \xe2\x80\xa2 Logs drug receipts appropriately when inventory process owner or Stock keeper is absent. \xe2\x80\xa2 Notifies the inventory process owner or Stock keeper when stock levels are low. \xe2\x80\xa2 Assists with inventory maintenance and control, including auditing and record keeping. \xe2\x80\xa2 Maintains secure storage and records of all medications. (40%)

  • Customer Service \xe2\x80\xa2 Handles and triages telephone/window inquiries. (15%)

  • Billing \xe2\x80\xa2 Coordinates insurance billing including third party prescriptions when applicable. (5%)

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED Required
