The process that makes all this possible starts right here at Minnesota Ore Operations in the Minntac and Keetac Facilities.

We are seeking a Chemical or Metallurgical Engineer Student at Minnesota Ore Operations. The Internship affords the opportunity to apply educational experiences to real world mineral processing principals. Here you will exercise your skills and creativity to help solve today's challenges around operating efficiency, emerging digital technologies and sustainability.

This position is a temporary full-time position for the summer of 2026. This is a safety sensitive position requiring drug and alcohol testing.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Working along-side existing process engineers, operators and maintenance teams to analyze, evaluate and improve process performance. Developing and coordinating equipment sampling and testing plans for assorted unit operations and processes. Analyzing and interpreting process information related to productivity, efficiency and product quality. Applying graphic and statistical methods to translate information into knowledge. Summarizing and communicating insights through presentations and reports. Creating or modifying operating procedures to ensure learnings become standard work. Requirements: Candidates must be a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or a related STEM field. Candidates must be a current student, have completed their sophomore year by June 2025 and be in good academic standing. Must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.

The successful undergraduate will be an analytical problem solver, have an extremely high level of customer focus and a passion for process improvement. In addition, a successful intern will have: Demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and an aptitude for your area of study. A strong record of team, project and/or people leadership in a work setting and/or extracurricular activities. A willingness to take initiative to understand the business. An aptitude for problem solving; strong writing and verbal communication skills. A strong commitment to excellence and to personal and professional growth. Must be resourceful, responsible, tenacious, curious, independent, confident, and high energy. The ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks. Leadership and strong decision-making skills. Ability to think and act both strategically and tactically.

Rate: $23-$24 /hr. This base salary range is a good faith estimate. Based on candidate skills/experience the final offer may be lower/higher.
