Overview


We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Structural Steel Estimator to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in preparing accurate project estimates, managing costs, and supporting the successful execution of steel construction projects. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects within the construction industry, utilizing advanced estimating tools and collaborating closely with project teams to ensure precise budgeting and effective cost control.

Responsibilities



Prepare comprehensive estimates for structural steel projects, including material, labor, and equipment costs. Review project plans, specifications, and blueprints to determine scope of work and identify potential challenges. Utilize Bluebeam and HeavyBid software for detailed takeoffs and bid preparations. Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and vendors to negotiate pricing and terms that align with project budgets. Develop and analyze cost estimates to ensure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards. Assist in contract negotiations and review contractual obligations related to steel procurement and installation. Support project management teams by providing accurate cost data for budgeting, scheduling, and resource planning. Monitor project costs throughout the construction process to ensure adherence to budgets and identify areas for cost control. Stay informed about industry trends, material prices, and new estimating techniques to improve accuracy and efficiency.

Skills



Proficiency in Bluebeam, HeavyBid, and other construction estimating software tools. Strong knowledge of construction estimating processes, including quantity takeoffs and pricing strategies. Excellent negotiation skills for working with vendors, subcontractors, and clients. Experience with construction site management, contracts, and project management principles. Ability to interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications. Solid understanding of cost control methods within the construction industry. Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams. Background in heavy steel fabrication or structural steel projects is highly desirable. Familiarity with construction management practices to support project delivery from estimation through completion. This role is integral to the successful delivery of our projects by ensuring accurate estimates that meet client expectations while maintaining profitability through effective cost management.
Pay: $57,740.39 - $69,536.81 per year
