Job Description

The Structural Designer will support engineering and construction projects across multiple metal recycling facilities. This role involves creating detailed structural drawings, performing field measurements, and assisting engineers with the design of foundations, steel structures, equipment supports, platforms, and site modifications within heavy industrial environments. The ideal candidate is experienced in structural detailing and comfortable working in active scrap yards and processing facilities.

Key Responsibilities



Produce 2D and 3D structural drawings, including foundations, steel framing, equipment platforms, conveyors, hoppers, and support structures. Prepare construction documents such as plans, sections, details, and fabrication drawings using AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D. Assist engineers with structural calculations and design layouts for industrial equipment installations. Conduct field visits to perform measurements, surveys, and condition assessments at metal recycling sites. Support design of modifications for shredders, shear lines, processing equipment, load-out areas, and other industrial systems. Coordinate drawings with civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines to ensure accuracy and eliminate constructability issues. Review vendor drawings and integrate equipment information into structural layouts. Maintain drawing standards, document revisions, and organize project files. Work with project managers and site personnel to resolve design questions during construction.

Qualifications



2-5 years of structural design or detailing experience (industrial preferred). Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Civil 3D or Revit is a plus. Ability to read and interpret structural, civil, and mechanical drawings. Strong understanding of steel detailing, concrete foundations, and load-bearing structural components. Experience in heavy industrial or manufacturing environments is highly preferred. Comfortable performing fieldwork in scrap yards or outdoor industrial settings. Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Preferred (Not Required)



Knowledge of survey equipment and field measurement techniques. Experience with laser scanning, drones, or point cloud data. Familiarity with industrial equipment layouts or material-handling systems.
Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
