Strategic Sourcing Officer - Sciences and Laboratories




The

Strategic Sourcing Officer

is responsible for establishing and maintaining strategic relationships with internal customers, outside suppliers and other business partners. This position maintains open communication and collaboration between Procurement Services and the science departments and research laboratories to ensure continued strategic sourcing effectiveness, management of costs, and mitigated project risk by effectively documenting sponsored program purchases under Uniform Guidance requirements and advocating industry best practices. The Strategic Sourcing Officer will also manage the professional services category; analyzing commodity spend across the enterprise, working with customers to identify and understand needs, assisting customers in developing comprehensive Statements/Scopes of Work to meet their business requirements, leading commodity strategy development efforts, qualifying and selecting strategic sourcing partners from outside industry, managing all category related web content and documentation, and overseeing supplier relationships in the University e-procurement marketplace.


The position is also responsible for coordinating with the Higher Education Consortium's multiple systems and identifying leveraged spend opportunities for specialized commodities that will benefit the University. The Strategic Sourcing Officer interfaces with senior strategic sourcing leadership and decision makers across the University and works collaboratively to develop and complete strategic sourcing initiatives; manages spend and influences procurement activities for specialized commodities and acts in a consultative role with departments throughout the University by developing guidance and training materials and determining how the Procurement organization can assist each department in achieving their goals.


Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and full-time equivalent hiring ranges:

- Strategic Sourcing Officer: $79,900 - $99,900; 5+ years related professional experience

- Strategic Sourcing Officer: $72,450 - $90,550; 3-5 years related professional experience

- Strategic Sourcing Officer: $65,550 - $81,950; 1-3 years professional experience

Requirements



Bachelor's degree and certification by a recognized professional purchasing organization is preferred - including Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO), Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB), Certified Associate in Contract Management (CACM), Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM), or Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP), strongly desired. Additionally, well-developed negotiation skills are required along with a solid command of procurement principles and specialty sourcing strategies and trends.
