Strategic Communications Specialist

REPORTS TO

: Director of Marketing and Strategic Enrollment Initiatives

Job Summary



The Strategic Communications Specialist supports the College's communication and marketing efforts through high-quality writing, content creation, and brand storytelling. This role is ideal for a talented communicator who can write across multiple platforms--from press releases to web content to social media posts--with minimal supervision and is passionate about promoting the mission of Wallace State Community College.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



Minimum of associate degree with 15 semester hours in related field; bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum of two years of related experience. Previous experience in a college communications or marketing department, or as a marketing or media professional, preferred. Experience in at least one of the following areas

required

: writing for publication, web, or media; photography or videography; graphic design using editing software; or social media management. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, email for communication, and be able to update the College website. Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to confidently communicate with high-profile constituents. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet frequent deadlines. Must be able to work a flexible schedule with nonstandard hours and be able to take initiative and work independently.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



1. Manage the overall student communication plan, working with all divisions to ensure communications meet the needs of current and prospective students.

2. Exercise independent judgment, strategic thinking, and high-level professional discretion to ensure accuracy, alignment with institutional goals, and mitigation of reputational risk.

3. Assist with the planning, design, and execution of high-visibility print and digital communications for marketing and enrollment management--including emails, text messages, letters, publications, webpages, social media, and other key messaging--serving as a liaison for Marketing and Communications to ensure consistent brand and messaging strategy.

4. Develop and oversee multi-channel communication strategies in Salesforce/Target X, including drip campaigns and ad hoc outreach, to drive current and prospective student engagement and support institutional enrollment goals.

5. Assist with CRM related trainings for employees and provide feedback, coaching, and monitoring for outgoing messaging and brand consistency.

6. Manage and continuously improve CRM by seeking feedback, incorporating user experience improvements. Monitor and evaluate communication effectiveness, using CRM query and reporting tools; provide regular reports and make recommendations for optimization.

7. Assist in the creative and strategic development of marketing campaigns. Provide media and marketing-related support for campus departments and events, including preparing press releases, providing photography and/or videography, content and design services as required.

8. Assist with other duties as assigned.

9. In order to perform these essential functions, the Success Advisor must be present at work. Therefore, attendance is an essential job function.

SALARY:

Appropriate placement on State Salary Schedule E3 ($39,759-$57,251) of the Alabama Community College System Salary Schedule.
