This position directs incarcerated individuals and is responsible for the operation, oversight and control of the institutional storeroom inventory, which includes office, maintenance, dietary, clothing, health services supplies and cleaning supplies and maintain stock levels. Properly store all items in a centralized area maintaining a perpetual inventory and in accordance with established health and safety standards.



Responsible for periodic and annual inventories; maintains inventory controls; accounts for inventory discrepancies and makes appropriate reports to supervisors. Other duties as assigned.



All new hires are required to complete the following: Successful completion after hire of a three-week Pre-service Training Program in Des Moines, IA. Successful completion of a six-month probationary period during which final job suitability is determined.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:


Three years of full-time work experience in clerical, inventory, stores, supply, or warehousing work. Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes twelve months of full-time work as a Storekeeper 2.
