Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Store Manager to lead an established and busy retail store in downtown Northampton. For this job, these personal attributes and some transferrable management experience are more important than any particular educational background.

The job will likely start as soon as possible on a part-time basis-about 24 hours per week. We expect this position to go full time on or about January 2nd. The store manager will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring excellent customer service, and driving sales performance. Responsibilities

Oversee daily store operations and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures. Lead, train, and develop store staff to enhance their skills and performance. Manage inventory control processes Implement effective sales strategies to achieve store targets and maximize profitability. Conduct employee orientation and ongoing training programs to ensure high levels of customer service. Handle payroll processing Prepare reports on sales trends and inventory levels. Supervise cash handling procedures and ensure compliance with financial policies. Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and collaboration among staff members. Engage in recruiting efforts to attract top talent for the store team.

Skills

Strong negotiation skills with the ability to resolve conflicts effectively. Proficient in employee orientation, interviewing techniques, and recruitment processes. Experience in payroll management and bookkeeping practices. Knowledge of inventory management systems and retail math principles. Proven management experience -retail sales a plus, with a focus on customer service excellence. Ability to supervise staff effectively while promoting team management strategies. Familiarity with POS systems and cash handling procedures. Excellent communication skills Strong organizational skills with effective time management capabilities. Background in merchandising, marketing, stocking, and pricing strategies is advantageous. Leadership qualities that inspire others to achieve their best performance in a retail environment.
