Stockpile Operator \xe2\x80\x93 Georgia/Western Carolinas Region

Reports To: Operations Manager

Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt, Full-time

Position Location: Northern GA/Western Carolinas Region

Overview: The Stockpile Operator \xe2\x80\x93 GA/Western Carolinas Region operates a variety of heavy equipment to ensure the accurate removal and placement of materials at our numerous regional stockpiles, mostly concrete barrier wall. This team member will coordinate with operations staff to be at the correct stockpile and efficiently load/unload the needed materials. This position conducts routine safety and mechanical inspections to ensure assigned equipment is in good condition to operate, submitting required paperwork on a timely basis. Ensures the safety of individuals working around equipment to prevent injury, observing hand signals. Assists crew with general laborer responsibilities as required to ensure customer satisfaction.

Daily Duties:

  • Operate track hoe, forklift, and skid steer.
  • Load and unload materials on/off transportation trucks/trailers.
  • Maintain stockpiles to ensure safe and efficient use of storage space.
  • Inspects and fuels equipment prior to the beginning shift.
  • Performs routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Prolonged periods of operating heavy machinery.
  • Able to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
  • Must be able to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains.
  • Always make safety a priority.
  • Comply with OSHA safety laws and regulations.
Position Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid Driver s License is required.
  • Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding including designs, uses, maintenance and repair.
  • Basic understanding of design techniques, principles, and tools necessary for the precise production of technical plans, drawings, models, and blueprints.
  • Basic understanding of general maintenance duties and procedures.
  • Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms.
  • Basic understanding of mathematics as related to supply counts and logistical needs.
  • Attention to detail and advanced organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as within a cross-functional team environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve practical problems, make logical decisions, and communicate ideas.
Working Conditions:

Physical Requirements
  • Sit, walk, kneel, bend, crawl, and crouch for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of machines or vehicles to exact positions.
  • Ability to judge the distances between you and an object, depth perception.
  • Ability to respond to a signal when it appears, reaction time.
  • Coordinate the use of hands, arms, and legs fully. Reach for the handle and use it to manipulate objects and materials.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Vision \xe2\x80\x93 ability to see details at close range and details at distance (either naturally or with correction).
  • Regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Mental and visual attention is necessary to effectively complete work tasks.
Environmental Conditions
  • Work outside and exposed to weather.
  • Wear protective or safety equipment, i.e. safety boots/shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, etc.
  • May be exposed to high levels of noise, grease, dust, and a variety of substances that are typically associated with a construction site.
