Maintains a clean and orderly central processing work area(e.g. shelves, counters, equipment)
Adheres to the sterilization process policies and procedures
Cleans each item according to manufacturer's instruction.
Inspects instruments for damage and defects; lubricates items as required.
Determines that each item is in good working condition.
Sorts and arranges items into proper trays
Wraps trays and individual items according to policy and procedure.
Accurately labels each item with name and expiration date.
Correctly operates sterilizers, Sterad, and other equipment for processing items.
Positions items correctly in sterilizer and selects proper cycles.
Checks indicators for proper functioning.
Performs required biological/chemical monitoring tests on all sterilizers and maintains logs.
Maintains availability of supplies for continuity of recording throughout sterilization process.
Cleans sterilizers according to established policies and procedures.
Maintains inventory levels and accurate records; Places items in correct locations.
Checks for package integrity of wrapped sterilized items; replaces items as necessary.
Maintains and updates the instrument tray inventory list.
Accurately documents count of instruments loaned/returned to outside sources.
Assists with Infection Control monitoring as necessary
Other duties as assigned.

Graduation from High School or GED with training or courses in sterile technique
Certification in Sterile Processing preferred with one year instrument processing technician experience preferred.
