Position Overview




The Staffing Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and managing the nursing department's staffing and scheduling processes to ensure adequate coverage at all times. This role ensures compliance with state and federal nursing staff-to-resident ratio regulations while supporting efficient staffing operations across multiple shifts.

Essential Job Functions



Supervise staffing schedules and daily staffing operations for the nursing department Monitor, document, and log staff call-offs Secure coverage to maintain appropriate staffing across multiple shifts Maintain accurate staffing records and tracking systems Coordinate staffing assignments to meet organizational and regulatory requirements Monitor employee overtime and attendance Maintain schedules for rotating staff Enter staffing and scheduling data into computer systems Secure coverage for vacant shifts Collaborate with the Payroll Coordinator to verify payroll accuracy Maintain professional nursing standards and decorum Participate in facility committees or conferences as directed by the Administrator Communicate courteously and cooperatively with staff, residents, families, and the public Promote positive public relations on behalf of the facility Respond appropriately to emergencies and disaster situations

Physical Requirements

Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday Ability to see and hear, with or without corrective devices Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds; occasional lifting up to 100 pounds with assistance Ability to push, pull, bend, and twist as needed Ability to cope with mental and emotional stress associated with the position Must meet facility health requirements, including annual TB screening and physical exam

Qualifications & Requirements



Education:



High school diploma or equivalent required CNA certification preferred

Experience:



Long-term care experience preferred Previous staffing or scheduling experience preferred

Language Skills:



Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical information Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English

Mathematical Skills:



Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals Ability to calculate measurements related to weight and volume

Communication Skills:



Exceptional communication and customer service skills Ability to communicate effectively with staff, supervisors, and management Empathy and professionalism required

Indoor work environment with normal temperatures Exposure to noise, fumes/odors, chemicals, and bloodborne pathogens Exposure to the demands and stresses of a 24-hour skilled nursing environment serving an aging population, including emergency situations, resident behavioral challenges, family interactions, regulatory oversight, and end-of-life care
