This is an opportunity to make a career transition without losing the payroll experience you already have. You will create high-quality, authoritative content for small business owners focusing on the different ways employers can do payroll, plus payroll tools and software, payroll taxes, compliance rules, and paying employees. As the Payroll Staff Writer you have at least two years of experience running payroll for a small to midsize business. You should understand how payroll tax rules vary by state, city, and locality. Fit Small Business is a publication of Technology Advice and is on a mission to deliver the best answers to people\'s questions. What you\'ll do
Write publishable first drafts of 3-5 articles each week
Consistently meets deadlines with articles of the highest quality
Suggest or create ancillary content to make articles ten times better than those on Google SERPs, including videos, graphics, and templates
Demonstrate expertise in the field of payroll
Stay knowledgeable in payroll compliance rules, how payroll taxes work, and how to explain this information in a simple way
Learn how to ideate future articles in the field of expertise, working with the HR Content Producer on a content calendar
Learn how to do keyword research
Work with SEO Marketing and Business Development to connect the work of those teams to the content
Begin working on bigger content projects, offering expertise
Attend conferences and panels as an expert in payroll for small business
Who you are
Agile professional who excels in a fast-paced environment and thrives on continuously pivoting strategies to drive business needs forward
2+ years in payroll
1-2 years minimum experience working with small to midsize businesses
Subject matter expert in payroll
Enjoy writing and can demonstrate writing proficiency on a test article and/or a current portfolio
Writing online articles preferred
Collaborative and enjoy working with multiple team members
Basic understanding of SEO
Self-motivated and able to manage your time to meet deadlines
Open to feedback and strive to learn something new every day
