Community Medical Services (CMS) is hiring a Staff Accountant responsible for recording a variety of accounting transactions and journal entries throughout the month as well as at month end, preparing and maintaining monthly account reconciliations including analyzing, reviewing, researching and resolving discrepancies, and providing monthly variance analysis. This role is also responsible for communicating and collaborating with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements. This person will maintain controls for the general ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization by applying the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Responsibilities:
Reports to the Assistant Controller
Reconcile and resolves differences on various balance sheet accounts
Process and manages revenues related to grants
Provide accounting information to managers and others within the company; explaining accounting transactions; resolving accounting issues and discrepancies
Manage and work with the Finance team on capital projects which includes processing and set-up of fixed assets
Understand and functionally operate internal financial systems and be able to provide reporting and analysis from the data.
Support the operational accounting team with adjustments and journal entries.
Assess current reporting process and provide recommendation to streamline and simplify data presentation
Perform other related duties as required and assigned
Requirements:
Education, Certification and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Tax/Finance or equivalent job experience
CPA license a plus, but not necessary
3+ years previous accounting experience required including GL accounting experience
Strong working knowledge software applications in Microsoft 365
Experience with Intacct or other similar multi-entity integrated accounting software preferred
Experience with accounting processes, journal entries, allocations, and accruals
Accuracy and attention to detail with numbers and quantitative skills
Self-motivation and desire to expand knowledge with on-the-job training
Possess integrity and ethical character with a clean financial background
Understand and support the confidential nature of the position and all related functions
Possess exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely manner
Ability to quickly prioritize among numerous tasks
Able to analyze, organize, summarize, and articulate financial information
Detailed and organized to allow for quick and accurate data gathering and analysis
The ability to use a phone, computer, printer, and copier is required.
The ability to use the internet and various web browser software is required.
Manual dexterity using a calculator and computer keyboard.
Requires prolonged sitting, standing, frequent bending, stooping, or stretching associated with a normal office environment.
Frequent and prolonged typing and operation of computer, keyboard, and telephones required.
Requires occasional use of fax machines, telephones, copiers, and other office equipment.
Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
