If you\'re an experienced accountant with a knack for accuracy, there\'s currently an opening through Robert Half for Staff Accountant at a growing Professional Services firm. Set in the Richmond, Virginia area, the company offering this long-term contract / temporary opportunity encourages innovation and rewards effort in the work place. The Staff Accountant plays a major role in the preparation of monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. This position spends a fair amount of time producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, you\'ll also be charged with various aspects of internal reporting. You\'ll also review schedules for the reporting processes, stay in touch with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and play an active role in compliance.

Your responsibilities in this role

- Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner

- Manage the design and creation of balance sheet analysis and communicate reports to management

- Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

- Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules

- Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

- Participate in various initiatives spanning multiple departments

- Take part the in implementation and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP

- Complete month end close, journal entries, without supervision

- Partake in annual closing processes

- Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed

Requirements

- Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

- Journal entries experience required

- Proficiency in Balance Sheet Reconciliation

- Solid understanding of Sage Accounting Software

- Fixed assets experience preferred

- Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent

- Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills

- Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

- Recent and relevant accounting experience

- Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills

- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

- Great attention to detail

- ERP system experience
