Job Summary:
The Director of Social Services is responsible for overseeing and directing all social service functions within the organization, ensuring residents' psychosocial needs are met, and promoting quality of life. This role provides leadership to the social services team, coordinates care planning, and serves as a key resource for residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members. The Director ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and fosters a culture of resident-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise the social services department, including Social Service Coordinators, and other staff.
Oversee admission, assessment, and care planning processes for residents, ensuring psychosocial needs are identified and addressed.
Serve as a primary liaison between residents, families, staff, and external agencies.
Monitor and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including long-term care, assisted living, and memory care standards.
Develop and implement social service programs and initiatives that enhance residents' quality of life.
Provide counseling and support to residents and families as needed.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (nursing, dietary, activities, therapy, etc.) to ensure holistic care.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including assessments, care plans, and regulatory reports.
Participate in staff education and training regarding social service practices, resident rights, and compliance standards.
Support facility initiatives, including quality improvement, risk management, and resident satisfaction efforts.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors preferred but not mandatory.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in social services, preferably in long-term care, assisted living, or memory care.
Previous leadership or management experience preferred.
Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to long-term care and assisted living.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to lead and develop a high-performing team.
