The Sr. Strategic Media Planner, in support of the Media Director, is responsible for overseeing the media planning process and execution of media deliverables. The Sr. Strategic Media Planner is responsible for ensuring that every media buy is in line with the client\xe2\x80\x99s strategy and is appropriate for the brand(s). The Sr. Strategic Media Planner must be capable of acting as the point person in all interactions with clients where media planning, buying, and executing work is involved. In collaboration with the Account Team, Producers, and Creatives, the Sr. Strategic Media Planner ensures that we\xe2\x80\x99re leveraging our media strategy to inform the creative, and that creative deliverables meet the standards for media execution excellence and client satisfaction.

The Sr. Strategic Media Planner should also work to mentor those on the team with the latest media opportunities that can reach our target audience. We\xe2\x80\x99re looking for innovation within the media planning space to ensure we\xe2\x80\x99re able to maximize media dollars on our clients behalf. We are looking for a self-starter that thrives in collaborating in a remote-work setting with the ability to work occasional evening hours for west coast clientele. Ultimately, our ideal Sr. Strategic Media Planner is someone who possesses strong judgment, collaborative instincts, and leadership abilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish media strategy and write RFPs that align with client goals.
  • Prepare and present media plans, including objectives, strategy, rationale, and all back-up materials.
  • Learn all aspects of internally owned properties and client business and marketing objectives.
  • Lead the execution of media plans, including preparation of media budgets, schedules of insertions, and supporting materials.
  • Execute a wide variety of online media (including display, video, paid social, paid search, digital audio, content marketing, email marketing, native, etc.) and/or offline media (print, TV, radio, OOH, OTT, podcasts)
  • Manage the development of media authorizations per approved plans/project requests.
  • Account Support as needed, including meeting preparation and coordination, presentation builds, POVs, creative spec collections, etc.
  • Supervise the monitoring of media schedules/buys during the negotiation process and check final buys for adherence to guidelines.
  • Interface with senior client leadership on a regular basis and effectively communicate ongoing media activities.
  • Meet with media vendors for evaluating new information/services and to maintain good rapport with sales representatives; maintain a high professional profile.
  • Demonstrate thought leadership and innovation for enhanced media plans and results.
  • Accountability for account budgets and billing.
  • Maintain status reports and/or department documents.
  • Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of 5-7+ years of media planning experience; mix of media planning and comms planning skills strongly preferred
  • Experience in managing and growing a team
  • An understanding of all marketing communications mediums (including linear, digital, branded content, radio and offline channels)
  • Strong knowledge of digital and offline media forms
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to become an \xe2\x80\x9cinfluential consultant\xe2\x80\x9d to clients
  • Ability to link business goals with strategic executions
  • Well-rounded thinker \xe2\x80\x93 equally strong conceptual, analytical, and executional
  • Strong presentation skills, able to construct a logical and cogent narrative
  • Well versed in knowledge and strategic application of key software platforms, media research/data analytic tools: MRI, Nielsen, competitive reporting, Google Analytics, Excel, etc.
  • Proficiency in media terminology, concepts, media math, calculations, KPI development and third-party research tools
  • Proactive and self-motivated
  • Solid project management and organizational skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and perform under tight deadlines
