Liberty Mutual is looking to hire an experienced Senior Solutions Architect to our team of Senior Solutions Architects. Leveraging deep technical knowledge, strong interpersonal skills, and strategic business acumen you will lead as we deliver software to bring peace of mind in our client\'s times of need.
Ideally, you are as comfortable in front of the IDE, as you are on the whiteboard (or Lucid Charts). Not only are you tuned into industry trends, but you are part of the movement, with a history of delivering cloud native solutions. A one-hundred-year-old P&C insurer comes with its share of technical debt, monoliths, mainframes, and redundant solutions. Our job is to rearchitect these solutions into resilient distributed applications running natively in the cloud - and untangling this is going to be a challenge.

About the role:


  • Diagnoses and documents fragility in existing software solutions
  • Authors technical strategies, and communicates to a broad set of stakeholders, on an intentional approach that addresses fragility
  • Remains hands-on with architecture and engineering activities, such as implementing POCs that demonstrate key components of technical strategies
  • Works with engineering corps to decompose strategy into team\'s backlogs
  • Consults with team to help overcome any emergent design decisions they encounter
  • Acknowledged as expert in field by colleagues and customers.
  • Mentors staff to develop technical architecture capabilities. Shares expertise ensuring that teams are continuously improving and learning together to meet current and future engineering and architecture needs.
  • Contributes engineering knowledge and expertise across the organization (and industry) through networks, events, and communities of practice.

Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge of agile development methodologies as typically acquired through a Bachelor`s or Master`s degree in technical or business discipline or equivalent experience
  • 12-15+ years of related experience
  • Extensive experience in software engineering languages and tools; proficient in new and emerging technologies
  • In-depth knowledge of diverse and emerging technologies and new architectural concepts and principles
  • In-depth understanding of layered solutions and designs; in-depth understanding of shared software concepts and product features, as well as security minded
  • Extensive knowledge of all product and system components of technical architecture
  • In-depth knowledge of business operations, objectives and strategies; in-depth understanding of global business and technology trends and the financial services industry
  • Strong influencing and consensus building skills, and the adaptability to respond to change quickly
  • Strong communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization with diverse backgrounds
  • Proven experience with agile practices and expectations
  • Strong desire to drive change, and ability to adapt to change quickly
  • Strong consulting skills (relevant/technical); recognized as a thought leader within the company
  • Ability to balance the long-term "big picture" and short-term implications of decisions
