Job Summary:
The Senior Intellectual Property Specialist & Licensing Manager (Biomedical) will be responsible for managing the entire life cycle of inventions and technologies arising from Rush University\'s research. As a Senior Intellectual property Specialist/Licensing Manager (Biomedical) you will lead and manage the identification, protection, marketing, licensing, and management of intellectual property (e.g. patents, copyrights). The position exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures. This is a position that is subject to a flexible work arrangement pursuant to Rush s Flexible Work Arrangement Policy.

Job Responsibilities:
Perform inventor outreach to identify new promising technologies developed at Rush.
Provide consultative assistance to faculty, staff, and students around intellectual property and technology transfer issues.
Independently evaluate patentable inventions and technologies arising from Rush University\'s research
Apply biomedical and life sciences background and research experiences to independently evaluate invention disclosures to ascertain their potential for patentability, market need and commercial potential.
Apply critical thinking, scientific, engineering and problem-solving skills to manage IP portfolio of Rush technologies.
Oversee and manage the patent prosecution of biotechnologies arising from Rush\'s research and simplify the process for technology transfers.
Conduct focused and comprehensive market analysis to promote Rush technologies by identifying suitable licensing partners
Manage all activities related to licensing of Rush Intellectual property which includes drafting, negotiating and executing various types of complex license agreements.
Manage overall workflow and process improvement for all Technology Transfer related activities.
Provide recommendations to steer strategic development of promising biomedical technologies.
Assist Rush Intellectual Property counsel to effectively manage the budget of the Technology Transfer Office to support innovation and patent licensing.

Required Job Qualifications:
Bachelor\'s degree in life sciences or related field required.
A minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience involving technology development and commercialization, licensing or business development, preferably in an academic tech transfer office is required.
Understanding of the related biomedical and technical landscape, design experiments and review clinical results related to the research and resulting technologies and therapies.
Experience of building and managing faculty as well as industry relationships.
Licensing experience.
Knowledge of life sciences, laws and regulations related to intellectual property licensing and fundamental business principles.

Preferred Job Qualifications:
Advanced degree is strongly preferred.
