The Clinical Analytics Team within Evernorth\xe2\x80\x99s Digital & Analytics (D&A) organization is expanding its deployment of analytics across the Care+ business as we fulfill our customer-centric mission to help the people we serve improve their health and well-being. The clinical Analytics team provides the ability to visualize, articulate, and solve complex and complicated business problems and identify opportunities for innovation for US based business lines including Medical Management (Care+), Behavioral Management, Pharmacy, Operations, Clinical programs and Pricing/Affordability. These businesses are aligned under our health improvement and retail strategies, all with the common goal of identifying what works best for our customers.

Our team supports the business by applying the following techniques to answer these key business questions:

Data mining and pattern recognition to answer \xe2\x80\x9cwhat happened?\xe2\x80\x9d and \xe2\x80\x9cwhere are the opportunities?\xe2\x80\x9d

Root cause statistical analyses to answer \xe2\x80\x9cwhy did this happen?\xe2\x80\x9d

Predictive modeling to answer \xe2\x80\x9cwhat will happen next?\xe2\x80\x9d, \xe2\x80\x9cwho is it likely to happen to?\xe2\x80\x9d, and \xe2\x80\x9cwhen will it happen?\xe2\x80\x9d

Experimental design to test new solutions in order to answer \xe2\x80\x9chow can we get better?\xe2\x80\x9d

By partnering with the business lines, these analytic competencies enable efficient and effective decision making to allow us to constantly improve and create evidence-based customer-focus solutions. The department also has overall accountability for the methods and standards used to create actionable, proof-of-value statements for all the clients. As such, we set the standards for the methods that apply externally in reporting the value of Evernorth services to the client and ensure that results can be used to make material changes to the client\xe2\x80\x99s covered population.

ROLE SUMMARY

The Sr. Data Scientist position is an opportunity for analytics professional to provide leadership and initiatives on complex analytics projects. Reporting to the Business Analytics Sr. Manager, Clinical Analytics, this role will work collaboratively with our Evernorth Care Solutions business stakeholders to provide partnership in achieving Evernorth\'s growth goals through development of analytically driven care navigation solutions.

You will be expected to have the requisite content knowledge related to evaluating health outcomes, conducting randomized control trials, utilizing statistical modeling techniques (e.g., multivariate regression, propensity score matching, coarsened exact matching) and employing health services research techniques.

You will interface across multiple business areas including, but not limited to clinical, pricing, reporting, product development, operations, and marketing departments as needed.

The ideal candidate for this role will be highly motivated, flexible, and a strong critical thinker.

Responsibilities

Extract and analyze large healthcare claims using SAS, SQL, R, Python, Teradata, Hadoop, etc.

Identify, analyze and interpret trends or patterns in data sets through descriptive and multivariate statistics

Conduct matched case-control studies and/or randomized control trials for determining the effectiveness of health services and solutions

Develop statistical models and methods that identify and stratify individuals in terms of health risk and/or behavior change

Develop actionable insights and recommendations for business leaders

Present results and recommendations to non-technical business partners and stakeholders to drive the decision-making process

Collaborate with business partners within clinical, operations and marketing to determine the best approach for testing the effectiveness of new/existing programs

Guide the development and analysis of a case management program, from proof of concept, data management to data analysis, interpretation, and presentation to internal and external stakeholders

The ideal candidate for this role will be highly motivated, flexible and embrace change. In addition, the candidate will know evaluation research design techniques and their strengths and weaknesses. This role typically requires BS or MS in Biostatistics, Health Economics, Health Services Research, Epidemiology or equivalent training and mastery.

IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL OFFER:

Working knowledge of program evaluation/outcomes research methods, predictive modeling and data mining

Advanced degree in Econometrics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Statistics, or Epidemiology or 3-5 years of related work experience

3-5 years of experience in related analytics strongly preferred

Experience with statistical software program SAS/SAS EG, R and/or Python is required

Comprehension of healthcare data (e.g., ICD-10, claims) and demonstrated understanding of health care and delivery system processes

Leadership competencies including the ability to collaborate with others and establish working relationships, communicate effectively across the organization and at different levels, think and act strategically, and influence key leaders

Strong customer focus and management of stakeholder expectations

Ability to successfully navigate and contribute in a highly-matrixed environment

Emerging track record of presentations / publications

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 107,900 - 179,900 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
