We are actively hiring for a Specialty/Commercial Auto Physical Damage Desk Appraiser!

Your Role:

The Specialty/Commercial Auto Physical Damage Desk Appraiser role is a virtual employee who works with significant authority over physical damage assignments of high complexity and coordination. Incumbent handles multiple cases and claims from first notification thru estimating and file closure. This role serves as an expert in all aspects of non-injury related matters including total loss. Incumbent independently evaluates, negotiates and settles physical damage and total loss claims along with other suffixes (i.e. loss of use, property damage), which includes evaluation and estimating mechanics.

Your work:

• Confirm vehicle damages are consistent with the facts of loss.
• Write an accurate estimate and supplements from photographs using expertise, discretion and judgment for the most economical resolution.
• Evaluate repair costs compared to vehicle market value to determine reparability versus total loss.
• Review, negotiate and reach an agreed price with repair facilities.
• Within settlement authority, employ discretion to approve repairs in alignment with company standard processes.
• Follow timeliness guidelines within standard operating procedures to adjust and conclude claims by issuing payment or reviewing complex damages/repairs with the next-level appraiser.
• Process payment appropriately and review with supervisor above authority.
• Provide mentorship to team members.

Required Experience, Education and Skills

• BA/BS in business, insurance or related area, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Automobile claims or appraisal experience.
• Industry accepted auto physical damage training.
• Adjuster and/or appraiser license required by state.
• Knowledge and proficiency with the CCC estimating software.
• Knowledge of automobile parts, repair techniques, vehicle terminology and construction.
• Strong negotiation, analytical and digital literacy.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in fast-paced and changing environment.
• 5+ years auto physical damage experience

The national average salary range for this position is $67,140 - $74,600. However, we have a location-based compensation structure. Our salary ranges vary and are calculated based on county of residence. The full salary range for this position across all the states we hire in is $60,480 - $89,400.This role also includes an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, through our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP), of up to 8% of eligible pay.
