Location: Holy Cross Cemetery - Culver City

Status: Non - Exempt, Full Time

POSITION SUMMARY

Works in the direct interment/entombment of the deceased, or disinterment/disentombment of remains. Trims memorials and monuments on cemetery grounds. Maintains cemetery grounds and buildings under the direction and supervision of the Supervisor/Assistant Supervisor. Full time position requires 40 hours per week. Overtime is required as needed.





In addition to general grounds worker duties, the Specialty Grounds I - Special Skills has knowledge, experience and currently performs at least one desired skill in the areas of landscaping, sprinkler systems, plumbing, welding, carpentry, construction, mechanical or operational. Requires direct supervision on the majority or required trade skill sets.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Because all Archdiocesan employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work.





Sets up graves for interment services, seals vault, backfills and tamps graves, replaces sod; trims all memorials and monuments on cemetery grounds. Sets up tents as necessary; handles and stores dirt sheets and Mow, edges, sweeps Removes flowers, cares for Prunes, fertilizes and waters the Cares for flowerbeds and areas around Raises graves and memorials, levels Cleans office and performs janitorial Gathers and removes Acts as funeral attendant; assists priests, patrons and funeral directors as Performs other cemetery tasks as directed by Maintains a good personal appearance; conducts self in a manner befitting funerals and respect for the dead. Responsible for safe and careful handling of all cemetery property and equipment; makes certain of its proper use and security. Makes certain all equipment is clean and stored properly; informs the Supervisor of any needed maintenance or repairs to equipment, or buildings. Grounds workers in small cemeteries operated backhoe and performs minor maintenance Performs other related duties as assigned.

General education sufficient to understand and observe written and oral instructions, directions and safety rules. Previous experience in grounds-care Training in lawn maintenance and landscaping equipment, excavation safety--all on the job

Compensation: $19.14-$22.52
