LearningRx of Raleigh and Cary is seeking a dedicated Brain Trainer for a specialized role providing one-on-one cognitive training to a client at a correctional facility in the Triangle area. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in someone's life by helping them strengthen cognitive and attention-related skills to support educational goals.

What Makes This Role Different

This position is focused exclusively on delivering individualized cognitive training--

no marketing, school outreach, or administrative responsibilities.

You'll work with one client in a structured, supervised environment, helping him build the mental skills needed to achieve his educational objectives.

The Role

Location:

Correctional facility in the Triangle area (specific location shared during interview)

Schedule:

Once per week, 1.5-2 hour training sessions

Setting:

Supervised sessions in an open room with facility staff present

Approach:

One-on-one delivery of LearningRx's evidence-based cognitive training methods

Goal:

Help client strengthen attention, memory, processing speed, and reasoning skills to support educational success

What You'll Do

Plan and deliver individualized cognitive training sessions using LearningRx methods Track client progress and document sessions according to our system Adapt training techniques to meet the specific needs of your client Build a positive, encouraging rapport that supports learning and growth Work independently while following established training protocols Navigate facility security procedures and protocols professionally

Compensation

Training period:

$15/hour (paid training while you complete LearningRx certification)

After certification:

$20/hour; considered for a raise after 12 months and IBCCES certification Weekly commitment: 1.5-2 hours of training, plus travel time (30-40 minutes each way) Mileage covered in hourly rate

Have experience working with individuals with special needs, learning differences, TBI, ADHD, or behavioral challenges Are comfortable working in structured, supervised environments with clear protocols Can build rapport with clients who may have experienced trauma or adversity Have strong one-on-one instructional or coaching skills Are patient, encouraging, and skilled at adapting your approach to individual needs Can work independently and maintain professional boundaries Are comfortable with security clearance and background check processes Have a bachelor's degree (required)

Especially Valuable Experience:

Special education, ABA therapy, or behavioral intervention Working with at-risk populations, incarcerated individuals, or in correctional settings Coaching, personal training, or one-on-one skill development Teaching students with learning disabilities, ADHD, or TBI Working in structured environments with security protocols

Bachelor's degree (any field) Clear background check (required for facility access) Reliable transportation Availability for weekly sessions (flexible scheduling) Comfort working in a correctional facility environment Strong communication and interpersonal skills Patience and adaptability
