Position: Specialist - Nursing Professional Development
Shift: 1.0 FTE Monday - Friday - Onsite in Downtown Indianapolis

We are seeking a dedicated Nursing Professional Development Specialist to lead initiatives that enhance clinical competence, foster professional growth, and support the organization's strategic goals.

Position Overview:
The Specialist-Nursing Professional Development (NPD) utilizes expert judgment and practice knowledge to lead and influence initiatives aimed at improving and advancing the professional roles and competencies of learners across various settings, supporting the IU Health Way. This role involves developing tools, theories, and skills to foster the growth of the NPD specialty, mentoring practitioners, and assessing practice patterns through systems thinking. The specialist prioritizes work based on strategic priorities, evaluates data, and assesses practice variances to ensure alignment with IU Health's mission, values, and national standards. The role may function at multiple organizational levels, including unit, service-line, facility, regional, or system-wide. The primary responsibility of this position is overseeing and leading the IU Health Nurse Residency program for the AAHC; with secondary responsibilities of partnering with the CORE onboarding team along with mentoring and supporting the inpatient NPD team.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead onboarding, orientation, competency management, education design, and role development initiatives. Establish and maintain collaborative partnerships to support professional development across the organization.* Develop and utilize tools, theories, and knowledge to advance the practice of Nursing Professional Development.* Use systems thinking to forecast needs, synthesize data, and identify patterns and variances in practice.* Prioritize activities based on the IU Health Promise Dashboard and strategic goals.* Mentor and guide NPD practitioners, supporting their professional growth and practice excellence.* Assess and improve practice patterns related to IU Health's vision, values, and national benchmarks.* Travel as needed to support system-wide educational initiatives and needs.* Display a strong understanding of adult learning principles and effective curriculum development.*

Qualifications & Requirements:
Education:* Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.* Master's Degree in Nursing, Education, or relevant field required.* Licensure & Certifications:* Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).* Completion of ANCC Nursing Professional Development Certification within 1 year of hire.* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).* Additional advanced Life Support certifications may be required per department policies.* Experience & Skills:* 3-5 years of experience in nursing professional development preferred.* Demonstrated knowledge and application of adult learning principles.* Ability to travel as needed to support educational initiatives at various system levels.*
