The Special Education Teacher (Birth-Grade 2) will design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with developmental and learning differences. This role emphasizes the integration of ABA principles into classroom instruction and daily routines to support each child's cognitive, social, and behavioral development.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement IEPs aligned with state standards and student needs.
Utilize ABA-based strategies, data collection, and reinforcement systems to improve learning outcomes.
Collaborate with Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), paraprofessionals, speech and occupational therapists, and families.
Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor progress and adjust interventions accordingly.
Create structured, engaging, and inclusive learning environments that promote independence and social skills.
Maintain accurate records, progress reports, and data collection logs.
Participate in team meetings, professional development, and family conferences.
Qualifications:
Required:
NYS (or applicable state) Certification in
Students with Disabilities Birth-Grade 2
(or equivalent).
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Special Education or related field.
Preferred:
Training or certification in
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
or experience implementing ABA programs.
Experience with early childhood education or early intervention.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Knowledge of evidence-based instructional practices for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and developmental delays.
