The Space Planning Specialist is a key role in the Air and Missile Defense Sector (AMDS), responsible for assisting sector leadership and staff in a variety of areas related to logistics, operations, and infrastructure support.

As a Space Planning Specialist you will...

  • Plan and manage the utilization of interior space including office, technical labs and common areas.
  • Participate and lead activities related to needs assessments, requirements gathering, long-range space planning, modeling and analysis. Collaborate with facility project teams to secure approvals for project implementation, negotiate and implement space allocation assignments
  • Develop and maintain a space management database to track office, space, and facilities status. Maintain AMDS floor plans on internal web; use floor plans for planning office moves, backfills, staff allocations
  • Develop and execute phasing plans for relocation based on physical space requirements.
  • Collaborate with AMDS, Business, Construction and Facilities Department (BCFD) and Security Services Department (SECD) staff to ensure all design, construction, renovations and work requests are completed timely, and are executed on schedule and within budget.
  • Prepare and present briefings in support of space planning strategic decision-making by sector leadership.
  • Facilitate sector office moves by preparing offices for new hires and existing staff by ensuring that painting, carpeting and furniture needs are actively and successfully addressed.
  • Oversee AMDS property inventory with Lab central services.
  • Maintain effective communication with project team members. Interact well with office staff and clients in a manner that builds productive relationships.
  • Participate in lab-wide committees as applicable to space planning and logistics.
  • Initiate improvements for processes as related to space planning, facilities and associated areas.
  • Perform other activities as required.
Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...
  • Have a Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree and minimum of 5 years of experience dedicated to space planning to include operations, logistics, and physical infrastructure services.
  • Possess strong communication skills, verbal and written, and demonstrative experience effectively communicating with all levels of the organization
  • Highly organized "self-starter\xe2\x80\x9d, capable of managing competing priorities in a dynamic team environment
  • Possess strong initiative, self-motivated, flexible and are interested in driving to creative solutions in all areas of infrastructure and logistics.
  • Demonstrated dedication to excellence in customer service.
  • Are able to obtain a Top Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
You\'ll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...
  • Possess a Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Construction, Architecture, Design, Management, Real Estate or related field.
  • Have 10+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in occupancy, space planning and/or space management
  • Possess superior verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present concepts and ideas to all levels of staff
  • Have experience with Microsoft Project
  • Are knowledgeable of construction methods and procedures
