The Ideal candidates will enjoy working outdoors and are highly motivated and eager to serve the community on a team that protects the environment through recycling and proper waste disposal.

This entry level position performs litter collection both on-site and off-site at the landfill/recycling center, repairs and maintains fences and other structures, handles and packages materials for treatment and shipment associated with Household Hazardous Waste, E-Waste and other diversion programs.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform litter collection at and around the landfill. Use hand tools as required. Observe safety in all phases of operation. Perform scale house duties. Maintain simple records and logs. Repair, construct and maintain litter collection fences. Assist Solid Waste Collection Crews. Process and package materials for recycling & diversion programs. Assist with the composting program.

QUALIFICATIONS

(A combination of the following experience and training, or the equivalent of, would be qualifying):


Experience performing manual labor for extended periods of time in all weather conditions. Possession of valid driver license. Ability to work overtime and some Saturdays. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to sit, stand, kneel, crouch, squat, stoop, reach, crawl, twist, climb, and lift 75 pounds; exposure to cold, heat, noise, dust, outdoors, vibration, confining workspace, mechanical hazards, ability to travel to different sites and locations.
