Make up to $50/game umpiring in Minneapolis! The Minneapolis Umpires Association (MUA) and the Twin Cities Good Time Softball League (TCGSL) need you for leagues starting April 23rd!!! The MUA and TCGSL recruit and train USA Softball umpires for the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board (MPRB) softball and kickball leagues and the TCGSL Sunday Leagues. Adult and youth softball games operate under the rules of USA Softball, the national governing body of softball. We are looking for people who enjoy the game of softball, kickball, or even baseball, to join the MUA and TCGSL to umpire softball and kickball games in Minneapolis. You can pick how many nights or Sundays you want to work, from the end of April through October! The pay per game is:
$34/game for TCGSL Adult Softball Leagues (Sunday)
$27/game MPRB Adult Softball/Kickball Leagues (Monday-Thursday) Youth Softball (limited season)
18U $35/game
14U $50/game
12U $50/game
10U $30/game Slowpitch and kickball games do not start a new inning after 50 or 55 minutes of play, depending on the league. You can work games Sunday all day (up to eight games) and Monday through Thursday nights with a one, two, or four-game schedule. Association dues and uniform requirements must be met and could cost $100 - $150 depending on what you already own. Working six slowpitch games should cover most if not all of your initial cost. To join the MUA and/or TCGSL you also need the following: *Reliable transportation (some parks are close to the bus routes)
*You MUST be able to be at the softball field by 6:00p weeknights or 9:00a on Sunday.
*Know the rules of the game. -- We will train and provide you with a rule book; the rest is up to you.
*You MUST be reliable and be willing to have fun, yet take the game seriously.
*You will have to pass a background check.
*You will be an independent contractor.
