Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: Classroom teacher teaches courses in social studies including history, geography, American government, political science, or other social studies classes as covered by the successful candidate\xe2\x80\x99s credential. The successful candidate will create a flexible program and environment favorable to learning and personal growth in accordance with each student\'s ability. This teacher will instruct students in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth.

MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid Michigan credential 6-12 RX (Social Studies) required; additional credentialed areas preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with other professionals and works successfully in teams and departments.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (May include but not be limited to):

• Design learning activities that relate mathematics to the physical world and to career pathways.
• Provide individual and small group instruction to adapt CCSS needs of pupils with varying intellectual abilities, and to use a variety of instructional activities.
• Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
• Participate in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Professional Learning Community (PLC) process.
• Evaluate each student\xe2\x80\x99s performance and growth in knowledge and understanding, and prepares progress reports and report cards.
• Participate cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop professional goals for evaluation in conformance with district guidelines.
• Communicate with parents and school counselors on student progress on a regular basis using a variety of means.
• Participate in faculty and/or District committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
• Use assessment to guide instruction and measure progress.
