Social Services Worker 1 (Screening) - Adult & Child Protective Services Division



Probationary Hourly Rate: $15.64



(180-365 day probationary period)



Post Probationary Hourly Rate: $16.57



Pay Range: $15.64-$22.89



Internal Applicants: Refer to the compensation policy.





External Applicants: Pay is negotiable based on like work experience and education.





ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:





Responds to incoming agency calls & in-person visits to gather and document thorough information pertaining to allegations of child and elder abuse, neglect and/or dependency provided by the community in order for a screening decision maker to determine agency response for investigation of the allegations in accordance with State & Federal laws, rules & regulations & within best practice standards. Completes appropriate investigation referral forms and enters data as appropriate in the required systems. Answers inquiries received in person & by telephone to provide information regarding agency procedures & child welfare reporting & investigation processes. Maintains records on activities in manner specified by law, rule or supervisor.







Assists in the location of social service programs (e.g.: housing, mental health, crisis intervention, food assistance, etc.) by making collateral contacts & referrals internally & externally to agency staff, other agencies & community resources in accordance with State & Federal laws, rules & regulations. Assists staff by completing routine correspondence & forms, filing, processing forms & court orders, copying, & answering general inquiries on the phone & in person.







Attends meetings, training, & conferences as assigned to receive & provide information at & to meet & maintain agency, state, federal or educational & training standards or mandates.







Exhibits regular & predictable attendance.







NON- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS





All other duties as assigned by director or designee.





Emergency after hours/weekend on-call and overtime opportunities available to this position on a voluntary basis.





Minimum Qualifications


Completion of undergraduate major core coursework or two years technical training in behavioral science, social science, early childhood development technology, education or related field. Or four courses in behavioral science one of which must be in child development or two years experience in behavioral science of which 6 months must be in the area of child development, one course or six months experience in business mathematics, one course or six months in experience in interviewing, one course or six months experience in typing, keyboarding or word processing. Or education, training and/or experience in an amount equal to the Minimum Qualifications stated above.




The applicant must have a valid driver's license, required auto insurance, and an acceptable motor vehicle report.





Background checks consistent with requirements in OAC 5101:2-5-09 must be completed at employment and every five years following, including but not limited to the following systems:
State Automated Child Welfare Information System (SACWIS) Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification Investigation (BCI) / FBI Local Law Enforcement
