for our facility in Fremont. The SMT Process Engineer is responsible for creating, maintaining, and improving the surface mount processes and programs for Automotive SMT production lines. These processes include screen print, chip mount, and reflow as well as AOI/SPI processes. A core focus of this role is leading efforts to reduce defects created during the SMT process and improve efficiency.
Job Summary:
Development of custom applications to improve and automate manual methods.
Lead the generation of support data for Manufacturing Process Instructions (MPI) and test/Inspection machine programming.
Responsible for generation of Machine Programs for the site.
Lead the creation and maintenance of part definitions.
Manage the program generation schedules.
Support update of Certified Samples and/or Certified Drawings according to BOM changes as they apply.
Lead the implementation of ECO's for programming changes.
Lead the design and procurement of stencils.
Support SMT programming continuous improvement projects.
Support the creation of SMT Stencils and/or Tooling as needed.
Works with cross functional teams to determine application specific process requirements.
Introduces and maintains process programs and process parameters to support manufacturing operations.
Responsible for process documentation, Setup Matrix / Work Instructions / Process Guides.
Supports Customer Audits and Visits through knowledge and process sharing.
Additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements Include:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
Knowledge in PCB assembly process, SMT, RoHS assembly, Lean Manufacturing, IPC standards, & Quality Systems required.
Understand and utilize ERP systems: Agile/Customer specific.
Gerber Viewer, Valor, and Mentor.
General office equipment, MS software, and materials knowledge is a must.
Must be able to work independently as required.
Intermediate verbal, written communication skills, and technical writing skills are required.
