JOB SUMMARY

The SKILLED GENERAL CONSTRUCTION LABORER will be responsible for a wide variety of job duties including but not limited to traffic control at job sites, concrete work, clearing/grading/forming of rebar installation, asphalt work and demolition work.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. PERFORMS manual labor to assist staff in completing road construction and maintenance, including paving, brush removal, site clean-up.



2. PERFORMS clearing of work site, grading, forming, rebar installation, mixing/pouring of concrete, finishing concrete.



3. PERFORMS shoveling, raking, rolling and repairing of asphalt.



4. PERFORMS traffic monitoring and control, which includes the distribution of barricades, warning signs, safety cones, and the flagging of vehicles.


5. OPERATES various hand and power tools in the performance of routine construction and maintenance duties.



6. OPERATES vehicles in the performance of routine duties.



7. LOADS and secures materials and equipment on truck for transportation.



8. TRANSPORTS staff, fuel, tool and other materials to and from work sites.



9. PERFORMS general patrols and excavates, sanitizes, clears ditches, road access areas, and culverts.



10. PERFORMS demolition work including debris removal and site cleaning.



11. PERFORMS generalized yard and building maintenance, including sweeping and shelving.



12. PERFORMS OTHER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of basic construction concepts and terminology Knowledge of basic power tools and hand tools Knowledge of heavy equipment operations Knowledge of basic safety requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent 2 years of experience in construction, maintenance, or other multi-skilled trade

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with asphalt paving, concrete work Experience in parking lot restoration Experience in excavation and digging Experience in demolition Experience in carpentry

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Must pass a criminal background check



Must have a valid driver's license



Must have and maintain a good driving record



Must pass preemployment drug screening



Must be able to travel out of state

WORK CONDITIONS:

Works outside in all types of weather and may be exposed to extreme heat and cold, rain, snow, sun etc.



This is a safety sensitive position due to driving requirements or job responsibilities which include safety-sensitive tasks that require performing duties fraught with risk of injury to others where even a momentary lapse of attention may have grave and disastrous consequences.
