The Position
The City of Maple Grove is seeking a Skating School Instructor to teach Learn to Skate USA elements to participants in a group setting. This position will help foster a positive learning environment for all participants, to help develop their skating skills and confidence. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Skating Director.

Responsibilities

Assist the Skating Director to facilitate the continual success of the Maple Grove Skating School.
Maintain a positive attitude, emotional maturity and exemplary conduct.
Teach Learn to Skate USA elements to participants in a group setting following the rules of Learn to Skate USA and the Maple Grove Skating School Instructor Guidelines.
Instruct participants with positive reinforcement to uphold a relaxed, orderly and calm atmosphere.
Communicate general information to parents/guardians.
Familiarization of the emergency and accident procedures that are provided by the City of Maple Grove.
Perform other related duties as requested by the Skating Director.
Knowledge of:
Learn to Skate USA program elements.
Ability to:
Communicate effectively with the skating director, other instructors, participants, and parents/guardians.
Work independently.
Positively motivate children and adults.
Maintain order in a group setting.
Qualifications
------------------
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must be at least 15 years of age or older.
Must be able to skate on ice with participants.
Member of Learn to Skate USA or able to become a member within two weeks of hire.
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of Learn to Skate USA program elements.
Experience working with children and adults.
Experience or ability to teach Learn to Skate USA elements to children and adults.
