Job Description

Giordano Construction is currently seeking an experienced sitework/civil estimator. This person will be responsible for preparing complete and accurate estimates. Estimates will include all phases of sitework including site prep, mass earth, rock excavation, utilities, site improvements, paving, landscaping and roadwork. Projects will be located throughout Connecticut.

Job Responsibilities:

Prepare detailed accurate equipment, labor, material, and subcontractor estimates.

Attend pre-bid conferences and site visits.

Analyze the site and understand the conditions/restrictions that will impact production.

Develop and analyze subcontractor quotes for scope and value.

Prepare project bid status reports and ensure compliance with the scope of work, geotechnical report, drawings, details, and specifications.

Use your estimating experience to come up with cost effective solutions.

Perform accurate quantity takeoffs, prepare cost estimates using HCSS Heavy Bid, and prepare schedules.

Maintain accurate, current database cost codes for historical data.

Manage and lead support staff during the bid process and preparation for the bid.

Manage and oversee the pre-construction process and buy outs upon award of the bid.

Thoroughly review the project and hand off successful bids to the project manager and superintendent of the project. Support the project implementation throughout the life of the project.

Job Requirements:

3-5 years' experience estimating civil projects.

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related construction experience.

Strong analytical skills.

Excellent communication skills.

Finite attention to detail.

Ability to organize and work independently.

Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under pressure of deadlines.

Advanced knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid, Agtek, On Screen Take Off, and Microsoft Office.

Projected Total Compensation: $85,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
