As a Shop Technician at Southwest JCB, you will be a vital member of our service department, playing a key role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of JCB equipment. This role focuses on diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of JCB machines and components within a shop environment. A core responsibility is to deliver top-quality maintenance, perform accurate diagnostics, and execute efficient troubleshooting to maximize both equipment uptime and customer satisfaction. This includes the effective sourcing and ordering of parts, comprehensive customer and warranty reporting, and maintaining clear and proactive communication with customers regarding repair progress.
Responsibilities:
Equipment Diagnosis and Repair:
You will be responsible for accurately diagnosing malfunctions and effectively repairing JCB equipment and components.
Parts Management:
This includes properly sourcing and ordering parts, ensuring that repairs are completed correctly the first time, minimizing rework and maximizing efficiency.
Shop Operations:
Perform all work within a shop environment on various JCB machines.
Preventative Maintenance:
Conduct preventative maintenance on JCB equipment as directed, adhering to established schedules and procedures.
Customer Communication:
Maintain clear and consistent communication with the Service Manager and customers to provide updates on repair status, manage expectations, and ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
Asset Management:
Properly utilize company vehicles and special tooling and maintain all company-owned assets in clean, safe, and operational condition.
Documentation:
Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and promptly, including work orders, parts orders, time records, and other required documentation.
Compliance:
Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety practices as required.
Additional Duties:
Perform other duties and projects as assigned by direct management, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to evolving business needs.
Qualifications:
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in repairing and maintaining construction equipment is required.
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent and demonstrated basic math skills.
Technical Skills:
Computer literacy with the ability to effectively process information and utilize relevant software/systems.
Communication and Time Management:
Strong ability to communicate effectively, prioritize tasks, and manage time efficiently.
Independence:
Capable of accomplishing tasks independently with minimal direct supervision, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements:
Physically able to perform the duties of the position, including the ability to lift to 75 lbs.
