Shop Supervisor

Overview

We are seeking a highly

motivated and experienced Shop Supervisor

to oversee daily operations within our production and manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader, capable of managing a team, ensuring production targets are met, and maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. This role requires excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, as well as a thorough understanding of shop floor processes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operations and Production Management

Supervise and coordinate

the daily activities of shop personnel, including fabricators and assemblers.

Develop and implement

production schedules to meet customer deadlines and organizational goals.

Monitor workflow

and make necessary adjustments to optimize efficiency and minimize downtime.

Ensure the availability

of necessary materials, tools, and equipment for production runs.

Troubleshoot and resolve

production-related issues, including equipment malfunctions and process bottlenecks.

2. Team Leadership and Development

Lead, train, mentor, and coach

shop employees to improve their skills and performance.

Conduct performance reviews

and provide constructive feedback to team members.

Manage staffing levels

and participate in the hiring and onboarding of new personnel.

Foster a positive and collaborative

work environment that encourages teamwork and continuous improvement.

3. Quality and Safety

Enforce strict adherence

to quality control standards and ensure all products meet specifications.

Implement and maintain

a rigorous safety program, ensuring compliance with all company policies and OSHA regulations.

Conduct regular safety inspections

and address any potential hazards immediately.

Oversee the maintenance

and proper use of all machinery, tools, and personal protective equipment (PPE).

4. Administration and Reporting

Maintain accurate records

of production output, labor hours, material usage, and equipment maintenance.

Generate daily/weekly reports

on production status, efficiency, and quality metrics for management review.

Assist in budget planning

and control costs related to shop operations and inventory.

Required Qualifications

Experience:

3+ years of experience

in a supervisory or lead role within a manufacturing, fabrication, or production environment.

Technical Skills:

Proven understanding of production machinery, shop floor processes, quality control methods, and inventory management.

Leadership:

Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate a diverse team.

Communication:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Soft Skills:

Proven ability to problem-solve, multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively under pressure.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, and use hands for extended periods. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds occasionally. Willingness to work in a shop environment that may involve noise, dust, and temperature variations.
