Mickelberry Gardens Shipping and Packaging Specialist

Hours: 32-40 hours per week, Monday-Friday at our facility in Northeast Portland
Work Days and Times: Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm
Rate of Pay: $18 - $24 per hour, raises available upon task mastery and demonstrated work quality

Mickelberry Gardens is a Portland-based dietary supplement company. We manufacture a line of products based around honey, beeswax, bee pollen, propolis, and medicinal herbs. Environmental sustainability, sourcing ingredients from local producers, and being a great place to work are core company values. We pride ourselves in quality and expect excellence from our staff. We currently have a staff of 11, along with 2 working owners. We operate in a laid-back and friendly environment, and we work hard to meet our goals.

This is an in-person job. The workspace is spacious, with lots of windows.

We're looking for someone with shipping and logistics experience to join our team. Excellent communication skills, organization, and ability to work efficiently and self-motivate are essential for this position.

As a growing small business, the day-to-day workflow in this position is varied and the Shipping Specialist works with co-workers in the shipping department, office, and with the production team to ensure that we ship out packages in a timely manner with close attention to detail.

We utilize Shopify as our online store platform, and we also ship packages via USPS and UPS to retailers all over the country. We ship larger freight shipments to distributors, and we ship large volumes of individually-packed units to fulfillment centers. This position assists with all of these aspects of our business.

Using packing slips to pack orders to ship, with a high degree of consistency and accuracy
-Using ShipRush to create and print shipping labels
-Building backstock of boxes as needed
-Preparing freight shipments - building and filling boxes, wrapping and strapping pallets
-Using pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment to move pallets and receive deliveries
-Data Entry, Maintaining Spreadsheets
-Assisting with bi-monthly inventory, working with purchasing department on ordering shipping supplies
-Understanding and implementing our quality and customer support policies
-Keeping the shipping area clean and tidy - dusting, sweeping, watering plants, etc.
-Communicating with managers and co-workers regularly to ensure that objectives are accomplished

We offer paid sick time and vacation time. Sick time begins accruing at the start of work, and vacation time begins accruing after 6 months of employment.

$40 per month (retail value) in Mickelberry Gardens products provided to use and share with family and friends.
$5.00 daily reimbursement available for commuting via bus or bike
